Devotional: I AM BEAUTIFUL!

As a woman in our society there is seemingly endless push to look a certain way, dress a certain way, fit into a certain mold. It is sometimes hard to feel beautiful when our looks don’t line up with that of the world’s standards. I have suffered from this as I know MANY women do as well.

What I have come to realize is that as my relationship with the Lord has deepens I seem to care less and less about what the world thinks about me, and more and more about what God thinks about me. Has this been easy? No! I have battled with self-image, self-worth, self-esteem, self-love and all of the other selfisms for most of my life. Today, I don’t feel that way anymore.

Think about those words… self-image, self-worth, self-esteem, self-love etc. What do they all have in common? SELF! Our society pushes self-love on us constantly as the means to being happy with who we are and it won’t work! Our happiness, our joy, our identity is found in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Allow what God says about our beauty to overcome what the world says about it, combat the lies of the enemy with the word of truth; simply put…get over yourself. That statement is not meant to be harsh, but to be direct. When we focus less on us, we grow more in Him.

Psalms 34:5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”

1 Peter 3:3-4 …but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

Proverbs 3:15   She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Prayer of Adoration

How mighty is Your love o Lord that You laid down Your life for me!

You died that I might live and not merely live life on this earth, but to have everlasting life with You in heaven.

Jesus thank You for paying the ultimate price so that my sins may be forgiven.

I was born into this world separated from You, and by the age of recognition I heeded Your call in my heart.

May I lay down my life for You daily and walk in the life that You desire for me.

I pray to always follow Your call and walk where You lead me.

I pray that I will not be hindered by the wrong turns that I take but that You will guide my hand back onto the path You have laid out before me.

Lord make me a vessel that will be filled with You all of the days of my life, that I may proclaim Your gospel to a hurt and dying world and that above all I may walk in love.

Merciful father, thank You so much for sending Your son to die for me!

Lord may I never forget that I am Yours, called by Your name, cleansed by Your blood and purified from all unrighteousness.

I will praise Your name all of the days of my life and with every breath that I take I will sing songs forever giving You all glory and honor.

In the name of Jesus I pray. AMEN!

Prayer for Spiritual Growth

Lord, I come to You now on my knees in prayer.

Father to You- the creator of the heavens and the earth, the alpha and the omega, the first and the last, the one true living God- I humbly ask that You hear and receive my prayer.

I pray that from Your unlimited resources You will empower me with inner strength, the strength that comes from Your Holy Spirit.

Lord please make Your home in my hear that I may serve You all the days of my life.

Help me to gain understanding of Your vast love, though I may never fully know it, that I may love as You have commanded.

Father help me to see how precious I am to You that I may be made complete and lacking no good thing.

Lord Your word says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made so help me to view myself the way that You view me so that I may never fall into the trap of insecurity.

With Your mighty power that resides within me, Lord grant me the ability to accomplish more than I could ever ask or think for Your glory.

As I come to You asking for spiritual growth, I come boldly with expectation that You will lead me and guide me into the fullness that comes from being Your child.

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me to walk in a manner that is worthy of You Lord, pleasing to You in all areas, and bearing good fruit in every aspect of my life which is devoted to You.

Jesus help me to imitate You in all my ways for You are perfect and as Your follower I want to be like You.

I thank You Father for everything You have done for me and I give all glory and honor to You.

Thank You for saving me from a life of sin and death that I may be filled with spiritual power to overcome this world.

In the MIGHTY name of Jesus I pray, let it be so. AMEN!
